Troop 100 has invited us to participate in a “carved car derby” which is similar to the Pinewood Derby but using balsa wood instead of pine to allow the scouts to carve it by hand. Troop 100 has generously offered for us to meet with them this coming Monday December 6th at St. Blaise in Bellingham for the scouts to start working on cars.
A few things to note:
1) This is OPTIONAL. This email is being sent to parents, not scouts, the SPL should be communicating much of this to the Patrol Leaders and scouts.
2) Scouts who go should bring a SHARP POCKET KNIFE to whittle the car with
3) Scouts will take their cars home to complete them and race them on Monday January 10th.
I sincerely hope all scouts will participate in this great event and that it becomes a tradition for Troop 14!
